What’s Going on with US Pricing and Availability?

If you’ve bought a new computer in 2025, you likely noticed that the price was higher than expected. Worse, it may not have been available at all.

Fluctuating equipment pricing has led to shortages and hoarding. It’s affecting parts and components in ways you might not have expected. This week we placed a large order for wireless mice and keyboards at double the price from two months ago.

Stock and lead times have forced US companies to change buying habits. Even refurbished systems are seeing an uptick in demand.

The US tariff situation is mostly to blame, as the supply chains—mostly from China—have been disrupted. Despite the administration’s sales pitch, there are no domestic manufacturers capable of stepping in.

Price gouging has happened in numerous areas, based upon speculation and not on available stock. Lead times for some products have been volatile. We have had to avoid certain products due to wildly delayed shipping dates (no one is going to wait six months for a laptop).
