Public Wifi: Still Risky

Public Wifi Safety Problem

Public Wifi Safety = Nope

In a recent story on Medium, Maurits Martijn had his mind (and passwords) blown by a hacker.

Not every coffee shop holds a sinister kid in a hoodie but you should get in the habit of securing your connections regardless of where you are. The only way to be 100% safe? Disable the wifi on your phone (helps your battery too when out and about) and leave your laptop turned off. Granted, this is a bit over the top but at least it’s darn simple.

Is the allure of checking your email while downing a Chocolate Dalmatian Frappuccino too strong for you? A VPN service like HotSpotShield or Cloak (our favorite) can help.
